COLLATIONS – SENSE OF PLACE

These are images of residential and commercial stretches with a power that connects me to a place and time. Here are the garages of Toronto’s laneways, architecture at its most pedestrian level, many with graffiti that’s ever-changing, such as the garage shown here, painted and repainted by the artist Skam and his guests. And here is the hodgepodge of the laneways themselves, so characteristic of the piecemeal development of the city in general. And here are some of Toronto’s neighbourhoods presented  in black & white, from the 1980s, before they became what they are today.
