EXPLORATIONS – ON THE ROAD

These are some views taken from the train window through New York state, along the railway right of way, in an homage to Walker Evans and his portfolio of the same title published in Fortune Magazine in September 1950. Here too are images of “landmarks,” particular sites that provide me with a sense of place, such as certain houses, barns, stands of trees, etc., taken in Ontario and PEI. Also here are drive-by images of the Motor City, Detroit, as it began to rise from the often literal ashes of bankruptcy, rust belt images of Buffalo and Pittsburgh neighbourhoods, and images of New York City taken over the decades.
